Catch the Wind, 2006
on a roof of a building, Kaus Australis, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
A drawing-like hand shape has been placed on the top of a building. The building stands between two rows of poplar trees. There is a gap in each row, directly opposite each other, at the centre point of the building, and the wind blows through this gap, over the building. The hand, placed as if to block the wind, however the hand only has outlines. It stands in the wind, but it will never catch it. |

Wind yard, 2007
in a parking area, Kaus Australis Rotterdam, The Netherlands
Pairs of hands, differently coloured but the same shape - as in the world, rotate when the wind blows as if to try to shake each other. Although this will never happen, it is not necessarily a pessimistic view, but rather observed without judgement in society. It has both a positive and negative side. The situation can be interpreted as the process or the result. |

Wind Street, 2007
on a road in the city centre, Sapporo promenade, Sapporo, Japan
The work is another version of “Wind Yard”. Two wind works in Rotterdam were inspired by poplar trees in the local landscapes, which are also found in Sapporo, in the same climatic zone. The work comes back to its home town. |
