Hungry Rascals, 2007

in a former school building, Duende, Rotterdam, The Netherlands

The idea for the little creatures came from the children who once filled the building. This work was designed to be installed by anyone. To limit where the creatures are placed there is only one rule – the story that they are hungry and their favourite food is electricity, so they have to be placed ‘biting’ any of the pipes containing electric cables. They can bite anywhere in the school, but only if the rule is followed – a metaphor for the students and their limited freedom.
